Augmented Reality - Past, Present and Future
Augmented Reality (AR) is a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory output, such as sound or graphics. This enables artificial information about the environment and its objects to be overlaid on the real world.
Businesses are starting to apply this technology to promote products, offer product support or instructions and to compare digital and physical prototypes for discrepancies. The potential uses of AR are vast and are currently being explored and developed on mobile devices by InfoLab21 academics. This briefing will investigate uses of AR, particularly for mobile devices, and what the future holds for this industry.
